📄️ Explore Music
Cardinal Music's Explore page is designed to bring out the best of your music collection, and it is home to interesting and new ways to play your music. Among other things, you'll be able to shuffle your music in various ways, browse locally generated suggestions using your playback history, and if you are a Cardinal cloud user, you can get suggestions from the Popularity Data Pool.
📄️ Artists
An artist represents a performer, band, or entity credited on one or more releases in your music library. Artists are created automatically by Cardinal Media Server during indexing — there is no manual creation step.
📄️ Music Playback
Cardinal Music plays audio directly in the browser. Audio streams are served by Cardinal Media Server and played back using the Web Audio API via Howler.js. The server manages the playback queue; the client manages the player state and UI.
📄️ Releases
A release is a collection of audio tracks published as a single body of work — an album, EP, single, or other format — that has been indexed by Cardinal Media Server. Releases group tracks together and carry shared metadata such as artwork, genre, and artist attribution. Every track in Cardinal Music belongs to exactly one release.
📄️ Tracks
A track is an individual audio file that has been indexed by Cardinal Media Server. Each track belongs to a release (album, EP, single, etc.) and is associated with one or more artists. Tracks are the atomic unit of your music library — everything else in Cardinal Music is built around them.
